HOW
TO SELL
Selling
through an auction is very simple. It is convenient and secure,
and offers you a chance to realize actual market prices for
the works that you wish to sell. Bowring's will guide you
through a step by step process of the selling process. As
auctioneers, we will act on your behalf, and because we take
a sellers commission from the sale price, we share with you
a vested interest in realizing prices as high as possible.
- Send
us or email to us an image of the items that you wish to
sell. Along with this please forward
-
as much description as possible, especially size
- anything
you know about the items, ie where you procured it, previous
owners, dates of purchase, history etc.
-
We will provide you, free of charge and without obligation,
-
an initial opinion as to value of the items a rough estimate
of what our experts think it will sell for
-
our opinion on its saleability
Since
we have many enquiries please allow us 3 weeks before we respond
to you.
-
Following this, if you wish to proceed, we will let you
have details of the next
available auction
and the deadline for inclusion and we will advise you of
how to get your property to us. If necessary we can arrange
transportation and insurance for you.
-
Once we receive your property our experts will inspect it
in detail and revert to you with a final recommendation
for the estimate. Since photographs seldom reveal the full
detail and quality this may be higher or lower than the
initial opinion .We will also recommend a reserve price
(the confidential minimum figure below which we will not
sell your property.). If you agree to this we will proceed
and you can then leave the rest to us!
-
We charge a commission on the sale price. This is calculated
at 16.5 % on the first one lakh rupees and 11.5% on any
excess thereafter. These charges include insurance whilst
your property is in our care. We may advise you to illustrate
your lots in the catalogue in which case there will be a
small extra charge which will be clearly explained to you
-
Prior to the sale, you will be sent a catalogue. Click
here
to view online catalogues.
-
Later, you will be notified of the result. If you cannot
come along to the auction you can check the results in near
real time on our web site.
-
Finally a cheque less our agreed charges will be sent to
you four weeks later, subject to our terms
and conditions
of sale.
